The main theme of this trip is to reach the Everest Base Camp by trekking and return back to Kathmandu from base camp on helicopter. You can choose to trek to Everest View Hotel and take a helicopter flight to Kalapathar via base camp before returning back to Lukla or Kathmandu. The choice is yours.

Everest Heli Trek Itinerary Analysis

We will follow an itinerary of Everest Base Camp Trek up to the first acclimatization day. Lukla is always a gateway to any kinds of trekking our touring activities in the region. Once we land in Lukla, our journey starts. Trekkers have to walk through Sagarmatha National Park and reach Namche Bazaar. This section of trekking in Everest region is called as the honeymoon section. It is because there is less risk of altitude sickness and trail is easy. The only uphill is from Hillary Twin Bridge to Everest View Hotel!

Upon reaching the Namche Bazaar, trekkers can stroll around the marketplace. The market is the biggest and probably the highest situated town that offers great deals of eateries, bars, shops, banks, and other recreational activities. The next day trekkers head to Everest View Hotel for lunch and for panoramic view of mountains. They will again return back to Namche Bazaar for overnight sleep. It helps in proper acclimatization.

Helicopter Flight to Kalapathar via Everest Base Camp

It is not possible to land in Everest Base Camp. Therefore, travelers fly above the base camp and land the helicopter in Kalapathar (5545 m). This is the best vantage point to view Mt. Everest and upper valley. After about half an hour of stay the helicopter returns back to Lukla. You can choose to continue the helicopter tour to Kathmandu or stay overnight in Lukla and take flight to Kathmandu.

Sherpa Villages and Monasteries

One of the major highlights of Everest View Trek in Nepal is the exploration of Sherpa villages. During Everest Base Camp Trek, trekkers don’t get enough time to spend with the locals. However, this trip can provide enough time for the trekkers to experience the lifestyle of Sherpa people. These people are ethnic group living mainly in high altitude places of Nepal. Solukhumbu district of Nepal has high population density of Sherpa people than in other places. Khumjung Village and Khunde Village are two major villages where trekkers explore during this trip. There are many monasteries, museum, schools, and memorial parks in the trail. Traversing through these places help greatly in understanding traditions, daily lifestyle and culture of Sherpa people.

Is it possible to do Everest View Trek throughout the year?

Yes, it is possible to do Everest View Trek throughout the year. Winter season is very cold but bearable as we will be spending overnight at Namche Bazaar (3400 m). For clear and warm weather, spring and autumn season is the best but throughout the year it is possible to do this short trek in Nepal.
